KitPvP 2.0?

    What would you like changed?: Add the KitPvP server back to DC
    Why should it be changed?: I keep hearing players continuously reminiscing on the old KitPvP server and it might boost the server's player count a bit
    Things to be added?: (I'm not a 1.12 expert, so if I suggest something that won't work, please feel free to nicely correct me with your own ideas below. These are just a few ideas in case DC is thinking of bringing the KitPvP server back.) Let's begin discussing possible kits. I suggest that we go back to using the leather kits. I remember the only problems we had with those kits is that they broke too easily and the sword was too weak compared to the armor. Other than that, those kits guaranteed nothing but fair fights for all ranks. Allowing players to wear their favorite colors was just a bonus, which sometimes resulted in silly games like "color wars." If we figure out a way to make them last longer and boost up the sharpness, I don't see why people would complain about them. Secondly, bows have always been controversial in the KitPvP community. I personally think all kits should carry them just as they did before. They were pretty helpful when a hacker logged on and staff weren't around to deal with it. I only ask that they aren't overpowered. Let it be used as a secondary weapon, not a primary. As for healing, I suggest splash potions of healing. Our previous "healthing" method lacked any skill. Most players would stand in place and shove golden apples down their throats, which resulted in a huge waste of time. Especially with how overpowering the regen on golden apples is in 1.12. As for health pots, not everyone knows how to throw them correctly, so it could result in even the best pvpers to die in an instant. Potions add pressure to even the best players, while they try to quickly get their potions neatly in their hot bars. It overall makes fighting feel more intense. You could also have "refill stations" around the map instead of having players take the easy way out and use the /kits command. These refill stations would be the heart of most fights since everyone would want to get to them. Speaking of getting people to fight, a nice addition would be a King Of The Hill platform. Where a single player who stands on a platform for a certain amount of time gets rewarded with something harmless which they would be able to use in battle. This would result in a lot of competition within players in order to get that reward. Having pvp tags would also be a nice add. After a certain amount of kills, a player "levels up" and gains a cool tag next to their name. The more kills they achieve, the cooler the tag. That's more of a pvp motivator, in order to keep people interested. If you're thinking of bringing the server's currency to KitPvP too, having a bounty plugin could possibly be a motivator too. As for ideas, that is all I got. Hopefully the other people who want KitPvP to return, provide their own ideas below as well or support my own. I think we can all agree we want the server to come out with something that provides joy to new and old players of the community. Thank you for the read.

    I totally agree to what he is saying, and I know people might think since Aymu and I are good friends that id be just agreeing. Though, honestly I think that this is a good idea, it adds more intensity to the fights; as well as fun. Plus, people couldn't complain on the armor when its all the same. That was peoples biggest excuse in pvping, but I do believe in adding color/names to the kits. Its just something really fun and not bland Imo. I think that if Kitpvp was brought back,seeing potpvp would be great to see. Some people also have no experience and this could be a learning new hobby for them, even I am still learning how to potpvp and its very interesting for me at least. Seeing this could attract those new people to the server :) ~Thank you

    I agree with everything Aymu except for the color leather kits. Thanks for suggesting this bro. In my opinion I think we should go back and use the Warrior, Shark, Archer, and Pimp kits. They are all very unique and strength's between the armor and weapons, but they are still equal. I maybe wrong about this but of what I have witness, none of the kits were really over used. Everyone had a love of different kits, I feel like these kits would bring a variety in different armor and sword differences. I feel like it's free to choose.

    I'm happy with either or cause I want KitPvP back, I'm just trying to express my opinion.
    I just feel like the color leather kits will get boring really fast.

    I think one of the most important parts of KitPvP is the map that we choose. If it's bland then its boring to play on and look at. If there is too much terrain its a pain to try and PvP on. Out of all the maps I played on the old cave map was the best balance of this in my opinion. I'm not saying we should use it but I wouldn't be against it.

    Another issue,

    DC PvP wouldn't be DC PvP without the excessive amount of people that are teamed. This is honestly what killed it (imo). Now we've always had massive teams but back then people would go FFA and we were always fighting. I think the server became to passive, no one wanted to PvP and fight they just wanted to sit in their corner and not get killed. The whole point of PvP is to fight, lmfao, so I propose we come up with some way to encourage people to actually fight. How we would do this? No idea.

    I can't say I'd be super happy if KitPvP came back on 1.12 but I think it would be enjoyable to try and build a KitPvP community again.

    I plan on re-adding it for sure since there is a lot of support for it. Busy this entire weekend sadly so I can't get a server up yet.

    I like the idea of people being able to earn special titles and what not, I'll definitely add that. We can probably do a token shop as well where people can purchase titles from voting. (Good way to get people to vote I guess).

    Also if we do decide to do leather kits, we can either have people rank up to get custom colors, have some in the token shop to buy, etc. I like that idea a lot personally.

    We had a lot of people tell me to go to the same kit, and then after that we had a lot tell me to go back to the other kits, It was a constant thing as half wanted one thing,and half wanted another.

    I can add bounty, king of the hill, and whatever else, that stuff should be widely accepted without debate.

    Different Kits or Same Kits: Maybe use the same kits but only add health pots, gapples, etc. as a buyable thing with money (e.g, Add 2 gapples to the shark kit for $200 or add 1 health pot for $75, and also $600 per day for voting just like towny)

    Bows or No Bows: bows. bows do, of course, cause lots of complaining and disagreement. they cause more, however, when they're not there. we'll just have to get past that. just make sure the map isn't incredibly in favour of bowers (excessive water, lots of high ground, etc), and the bows aren't too over powered. secondary weapon. not primary, like amilz said.
    Golden Apples vs Health Potions: health potions. health pots need skill, so even the best pvper could be at a complete loss with pots. i think it would be nice to try out and give a chance for new people, and see people learn and progress from gapple pvp to pot pvp and figure out how it works. it's also a good way to add more intensity, like amilz said, because it puts pressure on the player. also, gapples are overpowered in 1.12. unless you make it a individually 1.8 sever, gapples wouldn't be the best.
    Different Kits or Same Kits: same (leather) kits. i like the idea of ranking up to get custom colours or getting from token shop. we also could have a shop for dyes, (in 1.12 you can dye enchanted armour) and people could customize that way. it would be a good way to put to use voting money. con for that would be you can die easily, and would have to redye a kit again, which is both time and money consuming. also, of course, this is leather armour. unbreaking is a must. one decently long fight is all it takes for it to break. i also think leather would be a good idea because of the possibilities it presents. custom colours. as amilz said, players liked using the colours as representation for teams and make little games out of it. it adds to the fun, and fun attracts more people, and encourages other people to stay. also, because of the 1.12 regen, leather will help fights end quicker. no one likes those fights that last ages and ends up in you both running to a refill, only to get into fights with other people, what was the point of even fighting each other in the beginning? waste of time. not fun. leather would be quicker. these kits would also be the same for everyone. it guarantees that no one could complain about someone else being at a higher advantage than them, which happened often.

    personally, i'm not a fan of the buying items idea if you're talking about adding on from nothing. upping the amount, however, might be an alright idea (say, if we end up with gapples and shark kit starts out with 15 default gapples, you could buy a few more and add on). reasoning for this is that fights can go very fast, you can be dead within 30 seconds of leaving spawn, so people will get ticked off when they aren't able to use anything they bought. as there is no way to make money (unless some kind of kills for money thing is added, which may be a good idea as long as it is not too powerful) on kitpvp, your money will go very fast (again, fast deaths) and you'll be up against people with money and access to them. most importantly, unfair to newcomers who don't have interest in voting right off the bat.

    big points. can't stress enough. need good map, it would definitely need to fit those requirements. good for pvp and good to look at. it would need to be appealing in looks and easy to fight on, whether using bows or swords or both. need encouragement to fight, especially if there will be a small amount of people at first (teaming problem ending in no fights). bounty and king of the hill are great ideas, and -

    i like this idea as well. it will be a very good way to encourage and draw people together to fight if we do end out with health pots. cons - /spawn and getting a new kit would be easy, although time consuming. you'd have to pace yourself and find a good time to go to the station to be able to survive with a low amount of pots, unless, of course, you're just there for the fights, which could be bad for the players, as how can you refill with a bunch of people hitting you back and forth? maybe it'd be interesting to play with. maybe it'd just piss people off. we'd have to see.

    I love the map choice btw. And I can't wait to see what these refill stations will do in the mist of a fight lol. Lots of challenges, but many can gain a lot from this.
